The home page is built as a sort of hub for the various articles present. On the right hand side of the center, there are various advertisements for new films, fellow websites or movie memorabilia below a search engine with choices for this site or the entire web. Below this is a recipe for Movie Nachos, a food often represented as going hand in hand with a visit to the cinema.
On the left hand side of the center, we have the list of articles to choose from. They are colour coded depending on what type of article they are, the standard news items being black, the feature stories being blue, reviews and other similar features in red, and the just for fun features such as movie polls are green. This is much easier for the user to sift through the items listed if they know what they are looking for. Each article has been given a heading, usually about four words long to summarise the content of the article so the user doesnt have to click on each one to see what they are about. The use of such short phrases captivates the reader into curiosity, making them wonder what each one could be about, so they click on them to read the full story and gain a better understanding of its content.
Below the list of main articles we have three more little boxes allowing us to "jump" straight to headlines involving "movie hotties", a list of articles to do with actresses, upcoming movies, or dvd reviews of films currently available. Below these in the center of the page are another group of hyperlinks, taking us to the "small print" parts of the site and giving us the copyright information.
Right, now the summary of the main page is over, I will go on to talk about how these articles and features of the website relate to new media cultures.

This is a very detailed description of the website, perhaps a consideration as to why various colours have been chosen or specific links would help also. Though I do see that you apply analysis to the words that they use.

Hey Emma,
The colours of the website are quite bold, and bring connotations of a red carpet hollywood event to me. The topline banner is red with yellowish gold text reminding me of the red carpet at the oscars, where a star would be showing off their new trophy, and the greyish side banner and backpage with the black text reminds me of the hollywood walk of fame where stars imprint their hand/foot prints and their name in the concrete.
